Rose City Chrysler Sponsors The Hospital Activity Book for Children

The Hospital Activity Book for Children began in 1995 as an idea when their publishing company was donating children’s videos and books to the local hospital. They noticed how important it was to keep children’s minds occupied at a very difficult time. The book became an instant success through community and business support. The book distribution base has expanded over the years to include hospitals, medical service units, pediatric centres, victim service units and many other services – wherever kids are in need of a healthy distraction during a challenging time.

These books are designed with the assistance of the Editorial Advisory Panel, which includes Child Life Specialists from the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton and Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto. This ensures that the activities in the book target children between the ages of 2 – 12 years old. The book is designed for professionals and parents to communicate with children about their thoughts, fears, and concerns while experiencing critical situations. The activities ranges from simple dot-to-dot and colouring pages, to more advanced puzzles, providing a wide range of activities for a variety of ages. Even in today’s world, with all the latest technology, it is more important than ever for children to have and hold a tangible book.

Rose City Chrysler Supports The Open Arms Mission

About Open Arms Mission

Open Arms Mission is a volunteer driven organization, meeting the physical and spiritual needs of our community. We started as a small food bank in the late 1980’s and have grown to a multifaceted ministry. Click on the links at the left to learn more about our programs.

Our  Mission Centre at 22 Fifth Street houses our drop in centre, food and personal care bank, Saturday hot lunches, many programs and administrative offices. At the Mission Centre, clients (or "friends" as we call them) are treated respectfully and safe relationships are established with volunteers, staff and each other. Our weekday mornings are a quiet peaceful drop in center where coffee and donuts are served. We begin each day by reading God's Word and a devotional that is open to anyone who wishes to participate. Our Mission Centre Chaplains are available to talk or pray or to help connect people with specific resources.

Some of our regular Mission Centre progams include Bible studies, cooking circles, free professional haircuts, and sewing classes. We also have seasonal programs such as boots and backpacks for children.

Our  Ministry Campus at 933 Forks Road West, Wainfleet houses our furniture and food bank warehouses, large garden and Redeemed Lives men’s ministry. The furniture warehouse is open to the public for sales, Tuesday to Saturdays. The proceeds from the sales of the furniture fund our programs. We are also able to provide furniture for free or at a reduced cost through our voucher system. If you would like to donate furniture, it can be dropped off during our open hours or you can arrange for pick up by calling 905-735-8260. We also accept donations for our food bank and personal care at our warehouse.

Our large warehouse stores non-perishable and frozen food for our Food Bank. Our Redeemed Lives men’s ministry (also known as “The Barn”) is a gathering of men from all walks of life that meet together for encouragement in the Lord on Wednesdays at 7:00pm. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” We have a large garden where we can grow fresh produce for our food bank and help our clients learn new skills.

We are continually growing and developing new programs. Contact us if you have any ideas on how we can better serve our community or want to be involved in what we are already doing.
